Chair of Genetics

Research area:· Physiological tests of the level of tolerance of seedlings and mature cereals to temperature, salt stress and phytopathogens. Search for markers of cereal tolerance to abiotic and biotic stresses at the genome, proteome and metabolome levels. Characterization of cereal genes and proteins associated with tolerance to stressors in controlled and field cultivation.
Contact person: dr hab. Gabriela Gołębiowska-Paluch, prof. UKEN gabriela.golebiowska-paluch@uken.krakow.pl

· The physiological and molecular basis of the photosynthetic response of plants under abiotic stress conditions (air pollution, warming, spectral composition and light intensity, photoperiod) and biotic stress conditions (fungal infections) and multistress – the research is conducted on the model of epiphytic ferns (genus Platycerium), the collection of which has been at the Institute for many years, as well as on selected species of crop plants. In greenhouse and phytotron experiments, spectral methods based on chlorophyll fluorescence, measurement of pigment content and gas exchange, analysis of enzyme activity and stress proteins are used.
Contact person: dr Jakub Oliwa jakub.oliwa@uken.krakow.pl

· Physiological and molecular aspects of modifications in the organization and functioning of the main components of the photosynthetic apparatus accompanying the induction of osmotic stress-dependent CAM photosynthesis and its withdrawal in the model semihalophyte realizing facultative CAM photosynthesis Mesembryanthemum crystallinum sp.
