Chair of Zoology

The Chair staff conducts research in the field of:

Ecotoxicology, which concerns the monitoring and impact of pollutants (metals and selected groups of pesticides) on birds and mammals,
Human biology, which includes research related to the impact of metal pollution on the human body, including reproduction and development processes. In addition to physiological issues, they also focus on changes in the histological structure of selected tissues,
Chiropterology, which concern the biology and ecology of bats in mountain areas and the role of these mammals as vectors of transmission diseases,
Herpetology, covering issues related to the observation of the annual life cycle of amphibians and related phenomena. They also concern the morphology, ecology, threats, distribution and monitoring of amphibians and reptiles in Poland,
Parasitology, the main focus of which is research on parasitic arthropods, especially ticks (Acari: Ixodida) – parasites of humans and animals. They include faunal, ecological and taxonomic aspects of this group of parasites, and the importance of ticks in the epidemiology of infectious diseases,
Entomology, which focus on the biology and ecology of coprophagous and coprophilic beetles occurring in Poland, and the interactions between coprophagous beetles and epizoic fungi occurring on them.
